An outdoor space where colleagues can take a breather, have lunch together or catch up in the sun. That was the brief for this business project in Luxembourg. Luxembourg landscaper S&T Création designed and built the terrace, we supplied the planters.

The result: eight custom aluminium planters in a warm brown (RAL 8011) that form one continuous whole with wooden benches.

Planters and benches as one

On the rooftop terrace the planters do not stand on their own. Wooden benches bridge the gap between two planters, so you sit with greenery at your back. A corner bench connects to a planter with a Japanese maple, and along the railing planters and benches alternate.

Because every planter is made to measure, the proportions between planter, bench and terrace are right. You can see it in the result: clean lines and a calm, well-kept look.

Eight planters, eight sizes

None of the planters here is a standard size. The largest is a square planter of 2.10 by 2.10 metres and 1 metre high, with room for a multi-stem tree. The other seven are 60 cm high and range from 90 x 90 cm to 180 x 80 cm.

All planters are bottomless. That gives a generous planting zone that is easy to fill, and excess water can drain freely.

Why aluminium on a business terrace

Aluminium is light for its strength, does not rust and the powder coating needs little maintenance. A logical choice on a rooftop terrace, where weight matters, and for a company that would rather not spend time maintaining its outdoor space.

In RAL 8011 the planters match the wood, the greenery and the grey tones of the building. Prefer another colour? Our aluminium planters are also available in other RAL colours.
