The emblem of the municipality of Alken in corten steel
For the municipality of Alken, we made the municipal emblem, the stylised A, in corten steel. It stands between two posts in the middle of a planting bed finished with corten steel edging.
A logo thus becomes a recognisable object in the streetscape, one that also blends beautifully with the surrounding planting.
From logo to object
A logo on paper is not the same as a logo in steel. We translated the emblem into a steel plate with the shape cut out, mounted between two sturdy posts. This keeps the image recognisable, both up close and from a distance.
Edging as a frame
Around the planting bed, corten steel edging creates a clean border between planting and paving. Because emblem and edging are made of the same material, they develop the same warm patina and form one whole.
Landmarks for municipalities
