Why Corten steel Garden troughs have many advantages
Corten steel containers can not only be used for placing plants. They are also extremely suitable for growing vegetables and herbs.
Why?
1. Corten Steel is a Better Investment than Wood
Many vegetable gardens are made with treated wood. The wood is chemically treated and therefore often not wise to use it to grow food. The same applies to old railway boots soaked in creosote. Many – especially old – railway sleepers have high values of benzopruyeen in creosote, which makes them very unsafe.
On the other hand, you never have to paint or maintain Corten steel. The patina is formed naturally after a few months, making the vegetable garden container completely resistant to further corrosion. No more worries about rain, snow, humidity, etc. It is completely resistant to frost and extreme weather conditions.
2. Snails and Corten Steel
Corten steel is a difficult obstacle for snails and is therefore suitable as a barrier against your beautiful fresh salad. Corten steel contains less than 1% copper. However, this small amount is sufficient to ensure that the snail slime oxidises the copper and prevents the snail from crawling further.
Which Herbal Containers Are Available?
Different shapes and sizes are possible to grow vegetables and herbs in a Corten steel planter. If you want a high trough, however, it is advisable to limit the width to 1200mm so that you can easily handle all the plants.
This does not play a major role for low bins.
Besides the traditional bins (Artesa, Quadra, Ronda) you can also opt for the BELAR. This is a spice tray which is divided into 9 separate compartments. Nice to take care of your mint, basil, chives or other herbs in separate compartments.
